International Board Plans for the Future

Jun. 25, 2009

The International Board of the Compass Rose Society met in Toronto in April for its mid-year meeting.

The board's meetings were hosted by the Diocese of Toronto and its bishop, the Right Reverend Colin Johnson. Much of the board's time was spent on a strategic planning process, which is ongoing. The board expects to report to the membership on this initiative at our AGM this fall.

The board decided that this year's mission trip will be to the Diocese of Southern Malawi, where the Society has been invited to visit by Bishop James Tengatenga. Bishop Poole expressed his delight at this decision, saying "This visit will take us back to our roots in terms of mission trips. I think we will learn a great deal from the ministry of Bishop Tengatenga, who I believe to be an outstanding leader in our church."

The Society's 2008 financial statements were also received by the board. A comparative summary is available at the bottom of this article.

Other matters discussed by the board included:

- Having a presence at ACC14 in Jamaica and General Convention 2009 in Los Angeles

- Utilizing regional coordinators to connect better with existing members and to recruit new members

- Plans for a mid-year board meeting for 2010 in Hong Kong
