Society Hosts Membership Evening in D.C.
By
May. 23, 2011
Early in May, members of the Society greeted 90 or so guests from the District of Columbia and its nearby suburbs and introduced them to Compass Rose activities around the world.
Bishop Philip Poole and the Reverend Canon John Peterson described the Society's history and current activities. Board members Connie Gray and the Reverend Canon Jan Naylor Cope, Vicar of the Washington National Cathedral (along with a little help from their friends), arranged the evening and provided hospitality to out of town members from Virginia, Maryland, California, Uruguay, and Canada. Included in the weekend's activities were visits to Virginia Theological Seminary and worship at the National Cathedral.
During the evening the guests learned that the Cathedral has formed a new chapter of the Society.
Canon Cope's homily at the Cathedral, which mentioned the Society and last year's Communion Visit to the Diocese of Southern Malawi, is available in video and audio formats at the links below.
