The Canadian Compass Rose Society held its Annual General Meeting in Toronto on June 12th.

Bishop Poole, President of the International Society and Secretary of the Canadian Board, spoke on the activities of Compass Rose International over the last year.  He mentioned the study trip to Salisbury and the mission trip to Mexico, both of which were well attended by Canadians.

Bruce Chambers, Treasurer, provided the financial report.  He noted that there were three new Canadian members in 2007, the Venerable Peter Hannen, the Reverend Canon Cameron Cairns and the Diocese of Edmonton.

Bruce explained that annual gifts exceeded C$2,600 per member in 2007.  Our cash position was nearly C$55,000 at year end - up $5,000 from 2006.  C$30,000 of this amount is set aside to help fund the theological education of a foreign student, chosen by the Anglican Church of Canada to study in Canada during the period 2008 to 2010.

Mr. Chambers noted that administrative expenses of the Canadian Society, including promotional activities, were about 4% of total revenue in 2007.

On a motion from Mr. Chambers, Brian M. Jones, CA, was appointed accountant of the Society for 2008.  Mr. Jones completes a review of the Society's financial statements on a pro bono basis.
