Green Anglicans

The Anglican Church of Southern Africa (SA, Lesotho, Namibia, Angola, Mozambique and Swaziland) has been working to combat climate change and environmental degradation through the Anglican Church of Southern Africa Environmental Network known as Green Anglicans.

Fueled by the energy and conviction of primarily young people, the group aims to create environmental change through intentional discipleship. A network of change agents has the potential to inspire and implement social change in their local churches and in the parishes of the Anglican Churches of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Projected outcomes of Green Anglican projects include an increase in a holistic understanding of theology and a commitment to the Anglican Communion's Fifth Mark of Mission to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth, leading to greener parishes, more effective use of church land, tree planting, a cleaner environment and a reduction in the use of water, electricity and paper.
