The Compass Rose Society is delighted to announce its 2026 pilgrimage to La Iglesia Anglicana de la Región Central de América (IARCA) – the Anglican Church of Central America – at the invitation of Archbishop David Alvarado.
This journey will offer Compass Rose members the opportunity to experience the rich faith, culture, and mission of IARCA through visits to the Diocese of El Salvador and the Diocese of Guatemala.

Itinerary Highlights
El Salvador
Visit San Juan Evangelista and the Martyrs of the UCA at the Central American University José Simeón Cañas
Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of El Salvador and the Crypt of Monsignor Óscar Romero
“Learning about mission in the Diocese of El Salvador” – visits to San Miguel Arcángel Church and School and El Maizel, to explore the diocese’s commitment to the Communion Forest
Additional visits to El Salvador’s Historic Centre, National Palace, El Rosario Church, Lake Coatepeque, and El Boquerón National Park (located in the crater of the San Salvador volcano)
Guatemala
Visit Canterbury School and St James Cathedral in Guatemala City
Explore Antigua Guatemala, the city’s historic old town
Visit Chichicastenango, El Quiché, home to the largest Mayan population and one of Central America’s most famous markets
Visit Quetzaltenango, Guatemala’s second-largest city
Tour the Iximche Archaeological Centre – “Iximche” meaning “corn tree” in the Maya language
Travel & Accommodation
All internal travel within El Salvador and Guatemala will be by coach, including the border crossing. Accommodation will be provided in San Salvador, El Salvador and Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Price & Registration
The estimated cost for the pilgrimage is USD $2,500 per person, which includes:
All internal transport
Accommodation for 10 nights in two locations
All meals throughout the trip
This cost may decrease slightly depending on the final group size and hotel rates. Once confirmed, a reduced rate for couples may also be offered.
Please note: International airfare (to San Salvador and return from Guatemala City) is not included.
Participants should plan to arrive in San Salvador on April 12, 2026.
