Overview

The Compass Rose Society invites you to a special evening with the Most Rev. and Rt. Hon. Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York.

The evening will begin with Evensong and a sermon by the Most Rev. and Rt. Hon. Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York, in the Nave of historic Christ Episcopal Church in Westerly, RI.

Following Evensong will be a catered dinner in the parish hall, featuring remarks by Archbishop Stephen and Bishop Daniel Gutiérrez, the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania, and the President of the Compass Rose Society.

Evensong is open to the public and no RSVP is necessary. Seating for dinner is limited, so please reserve your space now.

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell

The Archbishop of York is the metropolitan bishop of the province of York in the northern part of England and serves as the second most senior leader of the Church of England, after the Archbishop of Canterbury. From January 2025 until Sarah Mullally was confirmed to the See of Canterbury in January 2026, Archbishop Stephen assumed the role of primate of the Church of England. A gifted preacher, storyteller, and the author of over 20 books, Archbishop Stephen is delighted to support the work of the Compass Rose Society.
