Special Appeal - Archbishop of Canterbury Installation
The Rt. Hon. Sarah Mullally, Archbishop of Canterbury-Designate, speaks to attendees at the 2025 Annual General Meeting in London.
The Society Invited to Support Historic Installation
The Rt. Rev and Rt. Hon. Sarah Mullally will be installed as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury on March 25, 2026. This event will be an important opportunity for Anglican leaders from around the world to witness and celebrate with Archbishop Mullally, as well as to meet with her to strengthen bonds of Communion and build bridges across difference. But, only if they can get there.
The Rt. Rev. Daniel Gutiérrez, President of the Compass Rose Society, has been approached by Lambeth Palace to help fund travel for international representatives from the Anglican Communion who cannot otherwise afford to attend, and to fund a special Primates Meeting to be scheduled around the Installation service.
Supporting Women in Church Leadership
As Bishop Daniel wrote when Bishop Mullally was chosen to be the next Archbishop of Canterbury, the Compass Rose Society is called to support and sustain her as she takes on this challenging role. Even as some call for divisive responses to this historic appointment of the first woman to lead the Anglican Communion, our call is crystal clear--to strengthen unity by supporting and uplifting women who are leaders of God's Church.
The Dual Emphasis of the Society
From our inception over 30 years ago, the Compass Rose Society has existed to support the Anglican Communion Office AND the international ministry of the Archbishop of Canterbury. As this year comes to end, this double focus is empasized with an appeal for members to contribute their regular end-of-year gift, AND this additional appeal to support the global dimension of the Archbishop of Canterbury's Installation.
We will not waver in our committment to the ACO, and we will also raise necessary funds so that the international ministry of the Archbishop of Canterbury can begin strongly and immediately.
